HLA’s 2021 Young Writers Contest

This year the Huntsville Literary Association begins its 53rd annual Young Writers Contest for the students of public, private, virtual and home-schools in Huntsville City, Madison City, and Madison County. For teachers, the above calendar is provided to facilitate the scheduling of Young Writer assignments into your classroom studies.

Elementary, Junior, and Senior Divisions - All divisions are aligned with the grade levels of the Huntsville, Madison, and Madison County schools as well as private, virtual and home-schools. HLA recognizes the winners in the Elementary, Junior and Senior Divisions in a number of ways. All winners, including honorable mentions, will be listed on this website along with photos of the First Place winners; see for example 2020 Contest Winners. First Place through Third Place winning entries in each category are published in the Huntsville Literary Association’s Young Writers Awards Booklet - a copy of last year's Booklet can be downloaded here. First Place winners will be invited to read their works on WLRH Public Radio.
