Young Writers Contest

HLA's 2018 Young Writers Contest

Young Writers Calendar

This year Huntsville Literary Association begins its 50th annual Young Writers Contest for the students of public, private and home schools in Huntsville City, Madison City, and Madison County. To assist in your planning, we are providing the above calendar to facilitate the scheduling of Young Writer assignments into your classroom studies.

Elementary, Junior, and Senior Divisions - All divisions are aligned with the grade levels of the Huntsville, Madison, and Madison County schools as well as private and homeschools. HLA recognizes the winners in the Elementary, Junior and Senior Divisions in a number of ways. All winners, including honorable mentions, receive recognition at the awards ceremony; the First Place winners are asked to read aloud their poems or short stories. First through Third Place winning entries are published in the Huntsville Literary Association’s Young Writers Awards Booklet given to all attending the awards ceremony. In addition, First, Second, and Third Place winners receive cash prizes.

Divisions 1-4
First Place: $100.00
Second Place: $ 60.00
Third Place $ 40.00

Divisions 5-6 & Sr. Artwork
