Bringing literature to life has been the focus of the Huntsville Literary Association (HLA) since 1967. HLA sponsors or partners with other groups to bring a spectrum of literary activities and events for anyone who delights in books, poems, and plays.

HLA is an all volunteer, non-profit organization with hundreds of members from the North Alabama area. Annual dues and grants are the primary source of income for HLA’s successful programs.

The Young Writers Contest is now open. Please see the contest rules.
Noted Shakespeare scholar Dr. James Shapiro will present two talks at UAH Wilson Hall: "Shakespeare in America" on March 1 and "Macbeth and Equivocation" on March 2.
These talks are open to the public, and HLA members are encouraged to attend.
