Bringing literature to life has been the focus of the Huntsville Literary Association (HLA) since 1967. HLA sponsors, often in partnership with other organizations, a spectrum of literary activities and events for anyone who delights in books, poems, and plays.

HLA's 2024 Young Writers Contest

For the 56th year the Huntsville Literary Association is pleased to announce our annual Young Writers Contest.
The contest, which begins on February 5, 2024, is open to all students, elementary through high school, in Huntsville and Madison County. For contest information, please visit the Young Writers Contest page.

HLA is an all volunteer, non-profit organization with hundreds of members from the North Alabama area.
Annual dues and grants are the primary source of income for HLA’s successful programs.
